I am doing beginning a series through Genesis using the LSB, and one of the things that really stuck out to me is the fact that in Genesis 1, we have “In the beginning God [Elohim] created the heavens and the earth….” But in chapter 2, we are introduced to Yahweh God.
I had not noticed this as I had read other translations, which has Genesis 2 written as “LORD God.” It’s going to be a few weeks before I get to chapter 2 (I just preached the introduction last night). But, in thinking about this, I was reminded of a breakout session that I was privileged to attend during the 2023 G3 Conference in Atlanta Georgia where Nathan Busenitz spoke on the subject of “Why The Name of Yahweh Matters.” It is on Youtube and I watched it again today. I’m sharing it here for the blessing of others who are interested.
Another video that is helpful is one I have posted below. It is relevant because Dr. Abner Chou and Dr. Joe Zhakevich explain why the LSB retains Yahweh in the Old Testament.
