Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)
This is the great motivation of the Christian life. It isn’t fear of sin, or the punishment of sin. The great motivation is not to be invited to more Bible Conferences. The great motivation is not approval of the brethren. The great motivation of the Christian life is not even some great reward or elevated place in heaven that may or may not happen someday. No, the great motivation in the Christian life is the glory of God. The motivation is honoring God. Here and now. Not just on Sunday in church service, but as Paul put it in his letter to the Corinthian church – whether eating or drinking or whatever we do. In every day life, our great motivation is to be glorifying God. How? The only way this is possible, and that is through Jesus Christ. Let the cults and the false religions have a fear driven religion but the Christian life is grace driven. To God be the glory!
Jesus said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
