“Now it happened that they were burying a man, and behold, they saw a marauding band; and they cast the man into the grave of Elisha. And when the man touched the bones of Elisha he became alive and stood up on his feet.” (2 Kings 13:21, LSB)
Not long ago I was reading in my Legacy Standard Bible, and I came to this Scripture. The timing was perfect since we had recently made a trip to Ohio for my father’s funeral. On top of that, one of the ladies in our church lost her dad. So, death has been on my mind a lot lately.
Elisha, the man of God, had lived a great life. Yahweh had used him greatly in his lifetime, but he died and they buried him. Another man died and was placed into the grave of Elisha. When that man touched the bones of Elisha, he lived again.
Now I know the time of such miracles is over, but the thought occurred to me…. I wanna live for the Lord in such a way that my life makes an impact for Him and even after I’m dead, my life still makes an impact on others! If I fail at this, may I simply die and be forgotten.
Soli Deo gloria! Glory to God alone!
