The Greek word “diabolos” is found 38 times in our King James Bibles. 35 of those times it is translated devil but what about the other 3 times? Notice the words I have capitalized in the following verses and that is where the Greek word for devil is used:
“Even so must their wives be grave, not SLANDERERS, sober, faithful in all things.” (1 Timothy 3:11)
“Without natural affection, trucebreakers, FALSE ACCUSERS, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,” (2 Timothy 3:3)
“The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not FALSE ACCUSERS, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;” (Titus 2:3)
Is Satan working in the world and among God’s people (even in the Lord’s churches) today? Absolutely! Let’s be sure we aren’t doing the Devil’s work!
