The other day while walking on the beach, my children and I saw a lot of jellyfish on the shore. My daughter Leah took a nice picture of one of them. From what I have read, these are the cannonball jellyfish, a very common species in this part of the country. One of the things about them is they don’t actually swim but get carried by the tides and winds. As I wondered at the dead and dying jellyfish on the beach, I thought about professing Christians who are so much like them. The Scripture warns us about this. “That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;” (Ephesians 4:14) Are you like that poor jellyfish on the beach? Are you being tossed to and fro in the waves and winds of whatever comes along in life? How can you avoid being like the jellyfish spiritually speaking? The Bible gives us the answer. Be a Christian grounded in God’s Word. Join one of the Lord’s churches. Sit under the preaching of a good sound pastor. I guarantee you, God will bless you!
