As most everyone knows by now, I am not King James Only. However, that does not make me “Anti-KJV.” In fact, I have yet to meet someone who is. The KJV is a beautiful translation. I still use it for preaching sometimes, and often in my studies. It is the Bible Version I grew up on, and I am thankful for it.
While I have stacks of KJV Bibles, my favorite is one I bought last year from Christianbook.com, the KJV Personal Size, Single-Column Reference Bible, Premier Collection, Large Print, Comfort Print–premium goatskin leather, red.
Believe it or not, I caught it on sale and only paid $59.99 for it!
The Bible is sized just right for carry, and I absolutely love the red goatskin!
Besides being single column (which is excellent for preaching from, studying, or reading), it has some great paragraph divisions while still retaining the verse by verse format. The notes at the bottom are very helpful in trying to bridge the gap between the old Elizabethan English that nobody speaks anymore and the modern reader. In the above example you can see 1 Corinthians 16:13, which reads “…quit you like men…” and the footnote accurately says “be brave.” I still believe in using multiple translations when studying but these notes are a great help for sure.
The words of Christ are in red as indicated here in this passage from Mark 14.
In the back of the Bible, there is a concordance, which is very helpful for times when you are not able to access other books and resources.
And the maps are excellent!
Overall, this Bible is very well made, a great size and a welcome addition to those who use the KJV. I am really glad that I got it.
