“Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you exhorting that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints.” (Jude 3, LSB)

LSB Inside Column Reference Review

Posted on October 6, 2024November 16, 2024 by dmgreen99

I purchased my copy of the Inside Column Reference (ICR) Legacy Standard Bible in October 2023, so after a year of daily use I feel like it is time to write a review about it. My personal copy is the Blue Cowhide edition and I got it with my name printed on the cover from Christian Book Distributers.

The Bible has over 95,000 cross references and over 14,000 translation footnotes. This was important to me. I was looking for a Bible that would be excellent in my study as well as one that I could carry into the pulpit with me as well. I really like the fact that the references and footnotes are all on the “gutter” (the inside column), giving the single column of the Scriptures the preeminence on the page. Cross references are located at the top and notes are at the bottom. I appreciate the fact that there is room to make little notes along the margins and even at the bottom and top of the pages where needed.

Speaking of pages, the paper is excellent quality. The LSB ICR has 40 GSM Bible paper, which means it is thick enough that I can use my Micron 01 or Micron 005 pens on it without a problem. Plus the font is a generous 11 point font, which makes the text easy to read.

There are a total of 8 detailed, full color maps in the back of the Bible.

This Bible has a concordance with 16,000 entries. And it has tables for weights, measurements, and currency. This makes this Bible great for any preacher or any serious student of the Scriptures.

As I mentioned my copy is genuine cowhide leather, perimeter stitching. I bought it as a gift to myself after preaching at a Bible Conference. After a year of daily use, it is holding up great. I am extremely happy with my Bible. It’s my favorite by far. Keep in mind, Steadfast Bibles has done a great job of publishing a wide variety of Bibles to fit any budget, including several within the Inside Column Reference. These are available from Three Sixteen Publishing, Christian Book Distributers, Amazon, Answers in Genesis, and several other retailers. I have purchased and given away several copies of the ICR over the last twelve months to several friends and family within our congregation. Whether you find yourself in the pulpit a lot, or in the pew most of the time, this is an excellent choice for an every day Bible.
