As most of my friends and my family knows, I am a fan of the Legacy Standard Bible (LSB) translation and the Inside Column Reference (ICR) Bible is my favorite format. The ICR has become my primary preaching Bible, even though I own many other Bibles.
Enter the Handy Size Inside Column Reference Red Letter. I already had a Handy Size Red Letter LSB, and I loved the size, but that one lacked the references and footnotes, which means I did not use it very often.
The Handy Size Inside Column Reference Red Letter LSB takes everything I loved about the ICR and the Handy Size and combined them to make one EXCELLENT BIBLE.
Here’s some pictures comparing the ICR with the Handy Size ICR:

The top is the Handy Size Inside Column Reference Red Letter Bible. On the bottom is the original Inside Column Reference Bible. Both are cowhide. I did add extra ribbons to my original ICR.

Notice the pages are the same in the two Bibles. The font in the original ICR is 11, while the smaller Bible has a still very readable but noticeable smaller size font of 9.5.
The ICR has 40 GSM Bible paper, while the Handy Size ICR has 32 GSM paper. Still, thick enough that I can use my Micron 005 pen on the Handy Size without a problem.

A look at the gospels reveals the words of Christ in red as seen in the Handy Size Inside Column Reference Red Letter Bible.

Another difference between the two is in the back of the Bible. The full size ICR has a concordance with 16,000 entries. The Handy Size ICR does not have the concordance at all. There is also a difference in the maps, as seen in the photo above. The full size ICR has full color maps while the Handy Size ICR has detailed maps but they are in black and white. These are not bad, especially considering the Handy Size LSB does not have maps at all.

I like this Bible for the same reason I liked it’s bigger brother: It has over 95,000 cross references and over 14,000 translation footnotes. I was looking for a Bible that would be excellent for my studies as well as one that I could easily preach from. I really like the fact that the references and footnotes are all on the “gutter” (the inside column), giving the single column of the Scriptures the preeminence on the page. Cross references are located at the top and notes are at the bottom. I appreciate the fact that there is room to make little notes along the margins and even at the bottom and top of the pages where needed.
This is all now, literally in a handy size I can more easily carry with me when I preach especially in parks.

My copy is genuine cowhide leather, perimeter stitching. Steadfast Bibles has done a great job of publishing a wide variety of Bibles to fit any budget. These are available from Three Sixteen Publishing, Christian Book Distributers, Amazon, Answers in Genesis, and several other retailers. I have purchased and given away several copies of the ICR over the last two years or so to several friends and family within our congregation. Whether you find yourself in the pulpit a lot, or in the pew most of the time, this is an excellent choice for an every day Bible. I am super excited that now we have the Handy Size Inside Column Reference Red Letter LSB.
