I’m thankful to pastor a church that celebrates obedience of the Great Commission, not just the results. Of course, we celebrate the results, but remember obedience is ours and the results belong to God. We really should encourage one another frequently even when the results aren’t immediately seen. That neighbor you witnessed to and invited to church this week didn’t show up? Be encouraged and keep being obedient. The wayward relative who has not been living the way they should? Keep pointing them back to Christ. And keep on praying! That seed sown is something to celebrate though it hasn’t taken root.
“So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth. Now he who plants and he who waters are one, but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.”
(1 Corinthians 3:7-9, LSB)
These are just some thoughts I have as I have been encouraged listening to Thom Rainer.
And if you’re a member of Sovereign Grace Baptist Church, we have plenty of printed material to share with others. Next time we assemble together for worship take some with you so you can share with friends, family, neighbors and strangers. Gospel tracts are not meant to fade or turn yellow in a tract rack…they are intended to be shared.
